You can help Ley Hill community in their bid to purchase The Swan Public House which nestles in the beautiful Chiltern countryside, overlooking the common with the cricket club and golf course outside its front door. 500 years old – one of the oldest pubs in Buckinghamshire, steeped in history and built with exposed beams and an inglenook fireplace.
Hundreds of visitors come to Ley Hill for recreation, sport, cycling, horse riding, walks, nature trails, picnics and would visit the pubs for food and refreshments.
The Save Our Swan group (SOS) are continuing their negotiations with the owners of The Swan to achieve an acceptable purchase price for both parties.
Currently 200 people have pledged funds to the value of £300,000 to buy shares in the Swan. BUT we urgently need more pledges to reach our target of £485,000 to enable us to buy the pub. The Swan is a freehold pub and we want to re-launch it with a community focussed tenant running the pub for the locals and the many visitors who are attracted to the area.
In March, the Government promised a Grant to help communities save local facilities such as The Swan and the SOS team have applied for the grant. It’ll be 2 months before we find out if we will get some, none or all of the grant.
Now that we are close to agreeing a purchase price and to minimise the shortfall, SOS would like to ask YOU, to pledge funds or increase an existing pledge to help fill this gap.
This is exciting! We are now beginning to see the fruits of our labours – so stick with us and look forward to a pint in our pub!
